Caution
The inorganic chemical Sodium Stannate, sometimes known as sodium hexahydroxostannate(IV), has the formula Na2. This colourless salt is formed when metallic tin or tin(IV) oxide is dissolved in sodium hydroxide and is employed as a hydrogen peroxide stabiliser.
Sodium Stannate is used in the surface treatment of metals by electrolysis, in alkaline baths, for pistons tin plating in the automotive industry. It is also used in the glass, metallurgical and ceramic industries.
