DMDM Hydantoin is a broad-spectrum antimicrobial agent, effective against fungi, yeast, and gram-positive and gram-negative bacteria. It helps personal care items stay fresh for long periods by stopping or slowing down the growth of potentially harmful fungi, yeast, and bacteria.
It has a high solubility in water and is considered a “formaldehyde donor", which means that it releases a small amount of formaldehyde overtime to help keep products fresh and free from contaminants.
