Caution
D-Panthenol, also known as Provitamin B5, is a synthetic form of water soluble Vitamin B5 (pantothenic acid). It is used as a moisturiser and a softening, soothing, and anti-irritant agent in make-up, skin and hair care products, as it prevents transepidermal water loss. This source of essential vitamin penetrates deep into the skin cells and nourishes the skin and hair from within. It performs well with other humectants such as glycerine and hyaluronic acid. Besides beauty products, it may also be found in anti-irritants and is useful in ointments meant for wound healing as well, as it helps repair damaged cells and tissues. D-Panthenol is extremely versatile and may bind and hold on to water effectively.
