Caution

Thioglycolic Acid 80% is commonly used in depilatory products. It is also used for hair styling and hair removal. Aside from cosmetics, it has use in oil drilling chemicals and mining flotation processes.

As a depilatory product, TGA's reducing characteristics of the SH-group open the sulphur bridges in the hair's keratin structure, weakening it. The sulphur bridges are rejoined after washing with an oxidising agent such as hydrogen peroxide.
