Caution

Kathon C G, is a widely used preservative found in liquid cosmetic and personal care products. It is a combination of two isothiazolinones called methylisothiazolinone and methylchloroisothiazolinone. Both the chemicals inhibit bacterial growth in cosmetic products on their own, but they are most commonly used as a mixture in products.

This rapidly biodegradable preservative is broad-spectrum and is environmentally acceptable, non-bioaccumulating and does not impart colour or odour to formulations. It is commonly used in rinse-off hair and skincare products like shampoos, conditioners, body wash/shower gels, and liquid hand soaps.
