   Behentrimonium Chloride is commonly found in cosmetics such as conditioners, hair dye, and mousse, and also in detergents.

It acts as an antistatic, hair conditioner, emulsifier, or preservative agent in personal care products.

Usage Rate

   May be used in concentrations of 0.5–3% (according to the formulation, as excessive use may make hair feel greasy). Melt it in oil phase.

Caution

Behentrimonium chloride is a cationic emulsifier and conditioning agent. Also known as docosyltrimethylammonium chloride or BTAC-228, it is derived from mayola oil, and so is considered a vegan cleaning/conditioning agent. To produce it, mayola seeds are heated and pressed.

It is most commonly used as a hair care ingredient for reducing static and frizzing in hair conditioning products. Behentrimonium chloride is also an emulsifying agent, which helps to improve the moisture content of the hair.
